Product
What are the differences between W02 and W04?
W02 and W04 use different MCUs. Key differences:
| Feature | W02 (ESP32-C6) | W04 (CH32V208) |
|---|---|---|
| WiFi | ✔ 2.4GHz 802.11ax | ❌ |
| Bluetooth | BLE 5.3 | BLE 5.3 |
| Ethernet | ❌ | ✔ 10M PHY |
| MicroPython | ✔ | ❌ |
Choose W02 if you need WiFi; choose W04 if you need Ethernet.
Which board form factor is supported?
The W-series boards are compatible with the Pro Micro form factor and pinout, so most shields and cases designed for Pro Micro should work.
Do they support lithium battery power?
Yes. W-series products include a full charge and discharge circuit and support lithium battery power. You can charge the battery through the USB-C port.
Development environment
Which development environment should I choose?
Pick the one that fits your needs:
- Beginners: Arduino or MicroPython (W02 only); simple syntax and easy to learn
- Rapid prototyping: MicroPython (W02); no compilation needed and interactive
- High-performance projects: Rust or C/C++; direct hardware access for efficiency and reliability
- IoT applications: Zephyr RTOS; rich networking protocol support
Why doesn’t W04 support MicroPython?
The CH32V208 has only 64KB of RAM, which is tight for MicroPython. If you need MicroPython, choose W02.
How do I install the development environment?

Flashing
What if my computer doesn’t recognize the device?
- Make sure you’re using a data cable, not a charge-only cable.
- Try another USB port or use a USB 2.0 port.
- Windows: check Device Manager for unknown devices.
- Linux: ensure your user is in the
dialoutgroup.
What should I do if flashing fails?
- Lower the flashing speed (remove the
--baud 460800argument). - Hold the BOOT button while flashing.
- For the first flash, try erasing the flash memory first.
Can’t find the serial device?
- Windows: check COM ports in Device Manager
- Linux: look for
/dev/ttyUSB*or/dev/ttyACM* - macOS: look for
/dev/cu.usb*
